Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has announced plans to launch a political academy aimed at grooming future leaders ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The outspoken legislator revealed in a statement shared on his official X account on Monday, February 9, that the academy will officially open on March 15.
According to Salasya, the institution will offer free online classes through open and distance learning platforms.
The programme will target aspirants eyeing elective positions, including Members of County Assemblies, Members of Parliament, Women Representatives, Senators and Governors.

The initiative, he said, is designed to prepare a new generation of leaders for upcoming political contests by equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate leadership and governance.
Salasya explained that the academy is driven by his passion for politics and leadership, saying his leadership style has helped him build trust among Kenyans.
Reflecting on his political journey, the MP added, “I learned his mistakes in 2017, when I garnered 254 votes. I was a student leader in Egerton and a philanthropist in Nakuru for street children by then. I am the most loved politician in his consistency, Western Kenya, and Kenya across.”
The announcement comes as the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) intensifies its own political training efforts.
Recently, a senior party delegation led by Secretary General Hassan Omar Hassan and Executive Director Nicodemus Bore travelled to China to study cadre development and grassroots mobilisation at the Zhejiang Provincial Party School.
“By studying the CPC century-long expertise in cadre training and disciplined grassroots mobilisation, UDA is transitioning from a mere election vehicle into a permanent, ideological institution,” the party said.
“We are not only focused on winning elections; we are building a world-class UDA Leadership School to train leaders of today and tomorrow.”
