State agents are stalking me, says Gachagua

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused state agents of stalking and monitoring him.

He claims security personnel in unmarked cars have been following him and parking at the entrance of his Nairobi residence.

In X posts on Wednesday, November 20, Gachagua said the agents have been tracking his visitors and trailing him, even to his rural home in Nyeri.

He noted that a car that followed him last Sunday had a lorry’s registration number, and it trailed him to PCEA Kerarapon Church and a restaurant before returning to his house.

Gachagua compared the surveillance to tactics used during the era of the notorious Special Branch under former President Daniel arap Moi, warning it was a form of intimidation.

“In this era of extrajudicial killings, forced abductions, and disappearances by state agents, I thought it important to share with Kenyans the harassment I’m facing,” he said, urging the public to hold the state accountable if anything happened to him.

Gachagua, who was impeached by the Senate on October 17 over charges including undermining judicial independence, requested peace as a private citizen.

“You hounded me out of office; now let me enjoy my peace,” he noted.”
